Supported by GivingPi Member Karishma Vachani, Pawdopt, an initiative of Golden Citizens Trust, is strengthening systems for rescue, rehabilitation, and responsible adoption of animals in Mumbai. In response to rising cases of pet abandonment, the initiative focuses on creating structured pathways that support animals from rescue through to long-term rehoming.
Since 2021, Pawdopt has rehabilitated and rehomed over 1,000 animals across species, including dogs, cats, and other vulnerable animals while also supporting complex medical and behavioral cases that are often overlooked. Its work extends beyond rescue to include vaccination and sterilization drives, awareness on responsible pet ownership, and training for animal welfare groups.
A key enabler of Pawdopt’s impact is Mumbai’s first no-profit-no-loss pet ambulance service started by them, improving access to timely veterinary care for injured and abandoned animals. Together, these efforts contribute to a more coordinated and responsive ecosystem for animal welfare.
