Ashoka–GivingPi Huddle: Co-Creating Solutions with Social Entrepreneurs & Philanthropists
GivingPi collaborated with Ashoka Innovators for the Public for the Ashoka- GivingPi Huddle, uniting Ashoka Fellows who are some of India's most prominent social entrepreneurs with GivingPi Members and business leaders. The collaboration aimed to co-create solutions for India's most pressing social needs. GivingPi Members Sandeep Singhal, Urja Shah, Sonakshi Agarwal, Adam Khorakiwala, Isha Kedia, Ashok Bhansali, Jeet Marwadi, Rohini Tannan and Ajay Upadhyaya along with business leader Sonali Pradhan participated as strategic thought partners, engaging in meaningful discussions with Ashoka Fellows. Conversations during the Huddle focused on understanding the operations of NGOs and social enterprises, effective communication strategies, evidencebuilding practices, and pathways to unlock funder peer networks. The Huddle acted as a catalyst for exploring innovative strategies to harness the interconnections between business, philanthropy, and social impact, amplifying the collective influence of changemakers across India's social impact landscape
Understanding the Nuances of Next-Gen Philanthropy: A Closed-Door Global Roundtable
GivingPi and I. G. Advisors came together and organized an exclusive, closed-door discussion with leading philanthropists on next-gen philanthropy and its unique approaches. This bespoke, invite only, virtual session titled, ‘Understanding the Nuances of Next Gen Philanthropy’ provided an opportunity for participants to connect in building a learning and participatory community of global philanthropists. The roundtable discussion focused on bringing to light the different approaches and strategies being adopted by ‘new age’ philanthropists at the forefront of transformative change. GivingPi Members who attended and participated in this event were Brijeshwari Gohil, Digvijay & Swati Kathiwada, Preeyam Budhia, Shraddha Bhonsle and Sonal Sachdev Patel.
Philanthropy Routes: A Grassroots Immersion with YPO YNG & Siddharth Somaiya
GivingPi partnered with YPO YNG Mumbai Chapter to host the inaugural edition of its new property ‘Philanthropy Routes’ in partnership with GivingPi Member, Siddharth Somaiya, which comprised a half-day immersion into philanthropy and grassroots leadership. Participants enjoyed bespoke experiences, including a curated walkthrough of the show IMMERSE, which included interactions with nine artists in their studios, and guided tours of campus innovations through their start up incubators. Additionally, attendees had the privilege of meeting 20 startup founders at Research Innovation Incubation Design Labs (RIIDL). The event concluded with an insightful fireside chat featuring angel investor and philanthropist Siddharth Somaiya and Gaurang Shetty the Chief Innovation Catalyst/CEO of RIIDL. The conversation delved into RIIDL's remarkable contributions, including facilitating over 70 startups, creating 300+ full-time jobs, and spearheading initiatives in research, innovation, and project-based learning. This curated discussion brought together GivingPi Member, Radha Goenka (Director, RPG Foundation | Founder of Pehlay Akshar, The Heritage Project, nature:re and artisan:re), Anjali Mody (Founder and Creative Director of Josmo) and Giulia Ambrogi (Co-founder and curator of St+art India Foundation and XXL Collective) to explore the transformative power of creativity in enriching culture, fostering social change, and shaping a brighter future for the arts.

GivingPi Member Rohini Nilekani Co-Founds Global Action Hub to Drive Exponential Social Change
Rohini Nilekani, GivingPi Founders Circle Member, serves as the Chairperson of Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies, which, alongside Instituto Beja, New Profit, and Skoll Foundation, Co-founded the Centre for Exponential Change (C4EC). This global action hub is dedicated to reimagining solutions for the world's most pressing social challenges. The founders of C4EC recognize that traditional, linear solutions are inadequate in addressing the rapid proliferation of global issues. They advocate for exponential thinking and action, believing it to be the key to addressing challenges effectively. Through C4EC, they aim to foster a future where innovation, collaboration, and steadfast determination drive solutions to every problem. C4EC serves as a co-creation space, bringing together diverse supporters to accelerate the efforts of system orchestrators in tackling social issues at scale. GivingPi Members Rizwan & Rekha Koita Establish Digital Diabetology Centre to Transform Diabetes Care in India
Koita Foundation, Co-founded by Rizwan and Rekha Koita recently collaborated with the Research Society for the Study of Diabetes in India (RSSDI) to set up the Koita Centre for Digital Diabetology (KCDD). The Centre will promote the use of digital technologies and tools to improve diabetes care across India. KCDD aims to facilitate research and innovation in diabetes leveraging digital technologies while promoting the use of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) platform. To drive better management of diabetes, KCDD will drive adoption of diabetes-specific Electronic Medical Records (EMR), interoperability of patient information, remote tracking of patients, and use of consumer health applications and devices. In addition, KCDD will support the creation of large-scale data for diabetes research and registries, which are important for research and public health initiatives. In addition, KCDD will also partner with hospitals, universities and research organizations to promote research and development in diabetes care. ! !
GivingPi Members Ronnie & Zarina Screwvala Partner with Mankind Pharma to Strengthen Rural Livelihoods & Healthcare
Swades Foundation, Co-founded by GivingPi Members, Ronnie and Zarina Screwvala, has partnered with Mankind Pharma Ltd. for their shared vision of an empowered rural India. To kickstart and commemorate this collaboration, the team inaugurated a water for irrigation program in Igatpuri, Nashik and goat and dairy program in Mahad, Raigad - laying the foundation for joint efforts that will focus on healthcare and sustainable rural livelihood opportunities. The collaboration aims to support rural families with cataract surgeries, spectacles, a mobile medical unit, goat programs, dairy programs, farmland with water for irrigation and toilet construction at the individual household level. GivingPi Member Mekin Maheshwari Partners with SIDBI to Scale the Istri Project Nationwide
GivingPi Member, Mekin Maheshwari, is the Founder & CEO of Udhyam Learning Foundation, which recently partnered with SIDBI (Small Industries Development Bank of India) for ‘The Istri Project’, an initiative aiming to help ironing vyapaaris across India by assisting them in switching from coal-based iron boxes to irons run with LPG. The partnership was kickstarted with the distribution of LPG iron boxes to Istri Vyapaaris in Bangalore last month. The Istri Project has already improved the lives of over 5,300 Istri Vyapaaris with 25Cr+ income upliftment through the transition, 38L additional productive hours enabled and 2.5K tonnes of coal usage reduced. deAsra Foundation, Founded by GivingPi Member, Anand Deshpande, partnered with the Army Wives Welfare Association in Pune, to empower them with tools for self- sustainability through business training courses and workshops. These learning and development sessions covered a range of industries such as baking, fashion, and beauty, geared to instill an entrepreneurial mindset with focused seminars on key components of running a successful business such as accounting, marketing, and customer service. The partnership aimed to equip the army wives with practical skills and knowledge to start and manage their own businesses, fostering self-reliance and financial independence. !
GivingPi Member Dr. Akhil Shahani Partners with NSDC to Expand BFSI Skilling & Placement Opportunities
GivingPi Member, Dr. Akhil Shahani is the Managing Director of Thadomal Shahani Centre for Management, which has partnered with the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to launch an initiative where accredited Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) courses at the centre are made available to a range of NSDC partners across India. GivingPi Member Indira Bodani Launches Mobile App to Strengthen Foundational Literacy Across Schools in India
The Gateway Research and Outreach Cell, a vertical of The Gateway School of Mumbai, Founded by GivingPi Member Indira Bodani, under the Keshavlal V. Bodani Education Foundation, has developed FABLe, a mobile-based benchmarking assessment application designed to enhance foundational literacy skills among students in India. This first of its kind literacy app has been developed by Dr. Radhika Misquitta and her team. The research based app is tailored to the Indian education system and is offered free of charge for primary grades. It covers English for grades 1-5, and Hindi and Marathi for grades 1-3. Currently 59 schools and 8065 students nationwide have adopted and implemented the application. The Gateway Research and Outreach Cell's aim is to make FABLe accessible to all schools and educators across India, contributing to the nation's goal of ensuring foundational literacy for every learner. GivingPi Member Pragya Kapoor Hosts Community Health Camp to Expand Preventive Healthcare Access in Mumbai
GivingPi Member, Pragya Kapoor, is the Founder of Ek Saath - The Earth Foundation, which recently organized a health camp in Kokari, Mumbai. The camp catered to 100+ residents, providing oral cancer screenings, doctor consultations, eye examinations, and distribution of free eyeglasses for those that needed them. The health camp was conducted in collaboration with local healthcare professionals and volunteers, ensuring that the residents received comprehensive medical care. GivingPi Member Rumana Hamied Scales Mumbai’s First Free In-Patient Palliative Care Centre to 50 Be
GivingPi Member, Rumana Hamied, is the Managing Trustee of Cipla Foundation, which has seed funded Sukoon Nilaya, Mumbai's first free in-patient palliative care centre. Sukoon Nilaya is now poised to grow from being a 16-bed facility started two years ago to 50 beds, to meet growing demand. From geriatric conditions like dementia to auto- immune diseases to paralytic strokes, patients suffering from these conditions along with their caregivers, are housed after hospitalization, and counselled on nutrition, physiotherapy and how to cope. GivingPi Members Mirisch & Aschak Damani Host Capacity-Building Gathering for Nonprofit Partners in Nashik
GivingPi Members, Mirisch Damani, Founder Trustee, and Aschak Damani, Trustee, of Rambha Philanthropy Foundation (RPF), recently organized a capacity building gathering for their non-profit partners in Nashik, Maharashtra in collaboration with Dasra, to find synergies and aid in capacity building. At the gathering, Mirisch Damani shared RPF’s journey of moving from a charity-based foundation to strategic philanthropy over the last 8 years and the ongoing desire to make sustainable impact on human lives across India through partnerships and collaboration. The session covered topics such as collaborative leadership, partnership development, innovative problem-solving, and sustainable practices. Participants shared their challenges, learnings, and success stories, and were encouraged to participate in cross-learning and engage in community building. The gathering saw participation from Snehalaya, Deshpande Foundation, Yuva Mitra, Quality Education Support Trust, SPMESM, Step Up for India, BAVP’s Shri Guruji Rugnalaya, and Seva Sankalp Samiti.
